Mid-Season Reset for Dance Moms

I’ve been taking a little space lately—and honestly, I think more of us need that mid-season than we admit.

Not because anything is wrong. Not because we can’t handle it.
But because mid-season has a way of catching up to you.
You’re still showing up. You’re still doing everything you need to do.
But it starts to feel heavier.
A little more automatic.
Like you’re managing everything… but not really in it the way you were at the beginning.
And our instinct in that moment?
Push harder. Get more organized. Tighten everything up.
But what if that’s not what you actually need?
What if you don’t need to do more…
And instead of trying to fix everything or do more…this is usually the point where I pause and ask:
What season am I in right now?
You Don’t Have to Drop Everything—You Just Have to Choose Your Season
I used to think a reset meant figuring out what to cut…what to let go…what didn’t matter.
But the truth is—everything in this life kind of does matter.
Your dancer matters.
Your time matters.
Your health matters.
Your home matters.
So instead of asking, “What do I drop?”I started asking:
“What season am I in right now?”
Because I can’t give 100% to everything at the same time.
But I can choose where I’m putting a little more focus right now.
Maybe right now you’re in:
a health season — trying to take care of your body again
a rest season — realizing you’re more tired than you thought
a connection season — wanting to be more present with your kids
a personal season — trying to feel like yourself again outside of dance
And that doesn’t mean everything else disappears.
It just means you’re shifting how you show up within everything else.
“I’m not doing less. I’m just not doing everything at full capacity all at once.”
Choose Your Reset (Based on Your Season)
Your reset doesn’t have to fix everything.
It just has to support the season you’re in.
You don’t need all of these.
You don’t need to do this perfectly.
Just pick the one that feels like relief.
The Body Reset (Health Season)
If you’ve been running on caffeine and whatever your kid didn’t finish eating… this is your sign.
Drink more water
Add protein where you can—nothing complicated
Move your body a little more (walks count, errands count, life counts)
This isn’t about getting in shape.
It’s about not completely depleting yourself while you’re trying to hold everything together.
The Schedule Reset (Rest Season)
If your calendar looks full and your patience feels… not:
Look at your week and shift ONE thing
Stop auto-saying yes
Give yourself even 30 minutes of nothing
You don’t need a whole new schedule.
You need a little breathing room inside the one you already have.
The Mental Reset (Overstimulated Season)
If your brain feels like it has 47 tabs open at all times:
Sit in silence in the car for a few minutes
Put your phone down longer than feels comfortable
Write everything in your head down (messy is fine)
Not everything needs your attention right now.
And your brain definitely doesn’t need more input.
The Identity Reset (Personal Season)
This is the one we skip.
Because it feels “extra.”And it’s not.
Do something that has nothing to do with dance
Watch something you actually enjoy
Listen to music that feels like you
Because somewhere along the way, you didn’t disappear…
You just got busy being everything for everyone else.
The Energy Reset (Emotional Season)
If you feel off before you even walk into the studio:
Pause in your car before going in
Ask yourself: How do I want to show up today?
Because the season doesn’t change.
But your experience of it can.
Mid-Season Reset for Dance Moms: You’re Not Starting Over
Maybe nothing actually changes this week.
The schedule is still full. The commitments are still there. Something might get done a little later than usual.
And that’s okay.
Because this Mid-Season Reset for Dance Moms isn’t about doing everything better.
It’s about moving through everything differently.
You’re not behind. You’re not failing. You’re not dropping the ball.
You’re just adjusting in a way that actually supports you.
“You don’t need to start over. You just need to come back to yourself.”
And sometimes the most powerful shift you can make mid-season… is choosing the
season you’re in—and letting that guide how you move through the rest of it.
